Happy 4th Birthday Alex!!

FOUR?!  How did he get to be FOUR already??

We did a countdown from December 26 to Alex's birthday to help him understand when his birthday is, but also to create some excitement and set it apart from all the other celebrating that occurs during this time of year.  Each morning he got up and looked forward to ripping off the paper!
ONE more day till his birthday!!!
We started this morning with some yummy french toast with blueberries per request of the birthday boy.  He got to open his card from Great Aunt Jan and a present from Mommy and Daddy.
Thanks for the card and birthday money Great Aunt Jan!
He got a book of himself!  He loves the books I make to capture his life, so I made him a copy of his 3rd year!

My parents were nice enough to watch Brecke so Matt and I could go do something special with just Alex.  We surprised him by taking him to his first movie in a big theatre!  We went to see Alvin and The Chipmunks: Chipwrecked.  He thought it was pretty cool, but really loved the big bag of popcorn!!
Got our snacks--headed to find our movie!

Later that afternoon, we had ice cream cake and opened the remaining presents...a bridge for his train track and a NEW BIKE!!!
He couldn't quite make the pedals work at first, but within 24 hours, he is riding
in circles around our house--all by himself!!!!
I would say the little guy had a pretty darn good birthday!
We told him that there probably wouldn't be too many of his birthdays where the weather was as "warm" as it was today.  Sunny and 30, but WINDY!  The day he was born the sun was shining so bright, but it was COLD!!

Some other "Alexisms" to mark this day:
-3 ft 4 inches; 34 pounds
-favorite thing to say "a bit"
-he is very proud of the fact that you are getting "big, big"
-LOVE farming--real or pretend!
-Recognizes his name when he sees it and is good at spelling it
-Think the Wyffels Hybrid logo says "Matt Barnard" (he got that from Daddy's name tag)
-Loves to dance and hold one of his legs and jump around
-one of Mommy's favorites: he has recently stopped biting his nails!!
-starting to really put some long sentences together
-when we say grace at the table and we don't say "God is Great"; he comments that "that was a hard one!"  Too funny!
-Does a pretty good job of counting to 10 (the number five is a bit challenging, but he will get it)
